Picture:Jerry & I with Elyzah in 2008. She is 1 month old. It's hard to believe that 50 years have gone by since we graduated. I am looking forward to seeing everyone. How to recap 50 years. I went to Alverno College in Milwaukee, graduating with a major in English. My first job was teaching English at Irving Crown High School in Carpentersville, IL. It was a brand new school, fitting for a brand new teacher. They were actually finished the building when school started. In fact, classes were called off on the first day because there was no running water! I taught at Crown for three years, but went back to the Valley to teach at Kaukauna High School for six years. While at KHS, I met Jerry and we were married in June, 1971. We celebrated our first anniversary in Germany-part of a 7 week trip that included stops in Germany, Italy, Israel, Paris, London and Ireland. The trip of a lifetime.
After I quit teaching in 1973, I worked at a CPA office until Sean arrived. Kyle came along 22 months later. When they were 3 and 1 respectively, I went back to work at SC Shannon (Nash Finch), starting a 29 year career in the food industry ending when I retired in 2008. In 1996, we moved to Waukesha, as Jerry got a job in Milwaukee. In 1999, we moved to Georgia in another job change for Jerry. We live about 25 miles southwest of Atlanta. Jerry "retired" in 2004 by going on disability because of his MS. We are enjoying being at leisure, although Jerry does a little cake baking as a hobby.
Sean, our oldest, lives in Appleton, delivers bread for Sara Lee and is getting married on April 10! He and his fiancé have one daughter together and she has 2 daughters from her first marriage. Nice to have instant grandchildren! Kyle, our youngest, is married and lives in Toledo, Ohio. He is in his first year of surgical residency at the University of Toledo Medical College Hospital.
One of my hobbies is building dollhouses and much of the furniture in them. I have 4 of them. They are a source of great pleasure. I also love to read-that English teacher thing-and also do some cross stitching. We still get back to Wisconsin to visit Sean and Jerry's brother, always in the summer. But last Christmas, we went to Appleton and had Christmas with both sons and their families. The snow was pretty, but we were glad to get back to Georgia.
