I'd like to say hello once again to all my AHS classmates. Its hard to believe that 60 years have gone by already. My wife Rosemary and I have been married 57 years and we are really enjoying life in retirement. We are parents of a son and two daughters and grandparents of four boys and one girl after our oldest granddaughter, Krista, passed away at age 22 on March 1, 2014 from heart failure.
I've been retired from Appleton Papers (formerly Appleton Coated, Appleton and now Appvion) since January 1, 2001 where I was a Staff Research Associate for 36 years involved in new product development of both carbonless and thermal sensitive paper products (e.g. Walmart receipts) from lab bench to production where my work in the thermal product area lead to a U.S. Patent in 1980! I later did competitive product analysis and deconstruction and test method development.
Since golf is my passion, Rosemary and I travel to at least two major golf tournaments each year which have included the PGA Championship, Masters, U.S. Open, Players Championship and three of the last four Ryder Cups in the United States. We have volunteered to work the 2007 Senior U.S. Open, the 2010 PGA and the 2015 PGA at Whistling Straits as well as the 2012 Women's U.S. Open at Black Wolf Run. In 2017, we volunteered for the first U.S. Open in Wisconsin at Erin Hills. In September of 2020, we are extremely excited to be volunteering to work the Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits! I collect golf memorabilia and music and enjoy the theater. Golf, woodworking and photography are primary hobbies.
With family, hobbies and outside interests like golf we are always very busy and then some. I still manage to do 10-15 hours of volunteer work on a weekly basis. I'm also an active member of the class reunion committee. We are disappointed that we had to cancel the 60th reunion due to the COVID-19 pandemic but hopefully, we will be having a 61st reunion in 2021.
